Start ringing in the new year with this musical performance put on by PacRep Theater. Audience participation is encouraged, with sing-along hits from artists like ABBA and Donna Summers. The show opens on Thursday and runs through January 8, with matinee performances on Sundays. The New Year’s Eve show will also feature dancing, desserts, and drinks.
Pre-New Year’s Eve Extravaganza

Join neighbors and friends for an early New Year’s celebration on Friday in Scholze Park. Finger food and music will accompany the festivities, and a clear weather forecast will likely mean a beautiful sunset.

Holiday Jazz Sessions

Pete Lips Jazz Band, Mike Lent, David Morewood, and more will be on at the Hyatt this weekend for a series of shows to celebrate the holidays. Stop by the Fireplace Lounge each night at 5 or wake up for jazz brunch on Sunday morning, served from 10am to 2pm.
First Night Monterey

First Night Monterey is a well-known tradition in the area and it’s one you won’t want to miss. For 24 years, the celebration has been bringing together area families and supporting the arts. Musicians, singers, dancers, and more will be performing throughout the evening, and local shops and vendors will be open for food and shopping. Stop by for part of your evening or make it the main event - it’s a great way to share in the new year with your neighbors.
Burning Bowl Ceremony

Center for Spiritual Awakening
The community is invited to gather and chant, meditate, and find a sense of release for the new year with the Center for Spiritual Awakening. Light refreshments will be available after the ceremony.

Seashore Sleepover at the Aquarium
Saturday, December 31, at 6pm to Sunday, January 1 at 8:30am
Monterey Bay Aquarium
$125 non-members/$100 members
Hang out with your favorite aquatic friends at this family-friendly event, featuring photo booths, sundae bar, and a countdown to the new year on Eastern Standard Time so that kids can get to bed. Snacks, beer, and wine will be available for purchase. Your ticket also gets you admission to the aquarium on January 1 - a great way to start off the year. All participants under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Bubbles and Brews
